Common scams include phishing, fake charities, threatening impersonator phone calls, and social media scams. Scammers often pretend to work for the IRS, but the IRS will never call, text, email or mail you asking for confidential information. Be vigilant and be sure your only contacts are official agencies and charities.

Michael Broeckel
VP / Agricultural and Commercial Loan Officer
Michael joined Bank of Eastern Washington in September 2021 and brings nearly 20 years of banking experience with him. He was born and raised in the small southeastern Washington farm community of LaCrosse. Michael graduated from Washington State University with a degree in business administration and an emphasis in finance. He has been a lender for 16 years, working with dryland and irrigated farmers as well as small business and commercial clients. Michael takes the time to fully understand his customer's operation, needs, and goals before developing a unique banking plan. He works out of the Pasco and Colfax branches.
He is an active Rotarian with Columbia Valley Day Break Rotary. He sits on the board of supervisors for Adams Conservation District. Michael is a graduate of the Washington Agricultural and Forestry Leadership Program. He currently sits on this board of trustees serving as a past chair. He and his family reside in Pasco and enjoy following WSU Athletics in their free time.
